Our Rating:
Long Island's My Favorite are back with the first in a series of three ep's and is the band's first release for 20 years. The current line-up is Michael Grace JNR, Kurt Brondo and Gil Abad with guest help from Jaime Allison Babic and Joseph Babic.

This opens with Deans 7th Dream a gauzy sounding synth pop song with vocals that are almost as sardonic as Neil Tenants. This is quite wry and has some cool brass stabs along with the Male and Female vocals talking about going to Rockaway Beach but with no Ramones influence whatsoever.

Princess Diana Waiting Ambulance is an arresting title and for those of us that are sick of the fawning over the sainted Diana this at least isn't cloying. This is a slow imperious song that wonders about the state of everyone's minds involved, while craving some Prozac and sounding a lot like ABC at their gold lame best. As we wonder if all of the Diana imagery and industry is just a huge illusion, all I can say to that is, she was pretty real when I met her in 1981, only becoming less real the more she became involved with The Family.

Blues For Planet X is hazy spaced-out synth pop to imagine moving to a new planet, with some of the vocals coming over like they are coming over the radio or intercom.

Second Empire Second Arrangement is a rather slow and sumptuous plea to go dancing and have a great time, it has some nice synth parts that drift in and out of the mix.

The Ep closes with Second Empire Dub that brings the bassline to the fore and the more shimmering aspects of the tune as the weird synth noises interact with the strings.
