Review: 'Maki Supa'
'Noon to Nine'

-  Genre: 'Rock'

Our Rating:

Israeli-American musician, Maki Supa, is back from a five year hiatus, and is ready to bring us his brand new EP, ‘Noon to Nine’. Collaborating with Shai Saadia, a veteran producer, Maki Supa sought to create something unlike what we hear today, using his genius-like creativity to bring it to life. The result is three tracks, composed of fantastic melodies and creative approaches that will leave you wanting more. Bound to excite any who hear it, this is an EP you need to know about!

The EP starts off with an energetic, inspiring song in ‘Inspirational Song #12’. Delivered with an excellent vocal performance, it’s a clear example of Maki Supa’s musical talent which he exhibits across the EP. A taste of what’s to come, it serves as the perfect introduction to Maki Supa that leaves you hooked.

As ‘Noon to Nine’ plays, we’re introduced to ‘Somewhere in Bretagne’, a song where Maki Supa starts to change it up slightly in terms of genre. Going to a more pop-rock sound, it’s a change in style that is performed like natural, proving that he is an artist that is not boxed in by a genre or style, but a creative who is able to express his music in a number of ways.

For the third and final track, ‘Noon to Nine’ finishes with ‘What Kind of Day Has It Been’ – a song that is much more personal with lyrics that speak about facing difficulties in life. The track is the third example of Maki Supa’s talent, where yet another change in style is done with ease. Moving into a more dance-pop sound, it’s a song that shows amazing versatility that holds Maki Supa up as one of the most creative individuals you can listen to today.

Having finished the ‘Noon to Nine’ EP, I can safely say that this EP is something you’re going to want to get your hands on. Showcasing a number of musical and lyrical styles, Maki Supa is an artist who is capable of creating music that excites and interests listeners, relying on nothing but his talent, he can freely move from genre to genre with ease, giving us expressive and refreshing music that is a pleasure to listen to.

With ‘Somewhere in Bretagne’ having been released on August 30th, there is taster on what to expect for the full release of Noon to Nine on December 1st. A mix of songs made extremely well with heaps of creativity; this is a release that you don’t want to miss!
