Review: 'Fascination Curve'
'Corona Time in Amerika'

-  Genre: 'Rock'

Our Rating:
Fan of prog-rock music? You’re going to want to know about this! Fascination Curve’s latest album, ‘Corona Time in Amerika’, was released on August 4th, containing nothing but musical talent and an important story behind the lyrics, this album excited us as soon as we heard it. All from the mind and view of Karl Lundeberg, this group will his perspectives to life using their other-worldly creative expression, giving listeners an impeccable piece of music in the process. With atmospheric music that comments on the world today, ‘Corona Time in Amerika’ is an album that will be of interest to anyone – this is the time to get to know Fascination Curve!

Starting the album off is ‘Land of the Free, Home of the Brave’, and with a title as provocative as that, you can guarantee that it is a political perspective on the United States, and it’s a perspective that Fascination Curve deliver with ease. Speaking on police brutality, the song delivers a soundscape that grabs and holds your attention, giving an impressive vocal performance before breaking into hard hitting riffs that blow you away before ending with quintessential prog-rock solo riffs. A fantastic start, ‘Land of the Free, Home of the Slaves’ is the perfect tone-setter for what this album will bring, an important message, with an undeniable amount of quality.

We see the same quality in subsequent tracks with ‘Sometime, Somehow’ and ‘I Will Breathe with You’, with both songs demonstrating yet more lyrically prowess, and a perspective that rings true in the world we live in today. However, what Fascination Curve do so well, is how they can change their sound while delivering the same high quality. ‘Sometime, Somehow’, an almost angelic choir with a piano provide the setting early on with bursts of energy in choir and drums periodically throughout. Whereas, ‘I Will Breathe With You’ quietly bursts into life giving us a powerful soundscape that gives the lyrics the perfect place to take centre stage. It’s the musical differences that wow us the most, as it demonstrates an ease in making music that is versatile, different and yet so good. Heading into the lead single, ‘Corona Time in Amerika’, a song length that is fit for a film score, it delivers a jumbled piece of music that includes numerous messages about the Covid-era in the United States, before ending in grandiose style with pounding drums and a rocking solo.

What Fascination Curve do so well is diversifying their sound n making their music. They could stick with the same style that has solos that blow the roof off, giving the same message, but instead they dive deep into art-like music that gives you an intimate performance of each lyric, balancing both perfectly giving us the best of both worlds.

Overall, a great album filled with a perspective that needs to be heard, backed up by incredible talent and delivered in a way that grab your attention and holds it with its quality. ‘Corona Time in Amerika’ is an album that everyone needs to hear at least once, and with it already been released on August 4th, you can get stuck into this whenever you please. Make sure you don’t miss out; you certainly won’t regret it!
