Review: 'DevilsBridge'
'Sense Of'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '28th October 2022'

Our Rating:
Suspense and leaving something to the imagination are things that have a certain appeal, an allure, but there’s a difference between those things and a job half done in the mistaken belief that it’s somehow interesting or some kind of cliffhanger. And so it is with ‘Sense Of’, from Devils Bridge. As if the absent apostrophe wasn’t enough.

Sense of what? No, filling in the gaps doesn’t work: it makes no sense (of).

But the female-fronted quintet do a respectable job of chucking down the chugging riffs, propelled by some beefy drumming, and display a sense of dynamics with some near melodic breaks. Dani Nell’s vocals are strong – clean, but powerful and passionate, but she’s capable of taking things down a notch and showing an almost classical tone, and she brings a clear sense of mood.

The album’s 12 songs present a fairly standard set that draws on classic 80s hard rock and nu-metal, but it’s hard to fault the quality of the songs, the playing, or the production.
