Our Rating:
It has been quite a while since I last reviewed a re-mix album for an album I've never heard before, but that's the case with this re-working of Eamon The Destroyer's debut album A Small Blue Car, that has been Re-made/Re-modelled by 16 artists of whom I know almost nothing, apart for Andrei Rikichi whose album I recently reviewed is also on Bearsuit Records. I am far more familiar with several of the people thanked in the liner notes.

This opens with the gentle ambient tones of Nothing Like Anything (Reframe) that's been remixed by Like This Parade who make it into a slight gentle caress about the joy of holding your babies feet In your hand.

Tomahawk Den is remixed by Societe Cantine that has backwards tape noises, with almost Chinese bell like sounds with glitchy noises as they declare the war over as all the pirates have been killed.

Eventually this mixes classical instrumentation with the synth work.
The Conjuring Stops is remixed by Andrei Rikichi who goes for haunting choral opening with the odd horror movie, something terrible will happen sounds.

Silver Shadow is remixed by Yponeko with the swirling strings leading into ambient bip-hop territory, odd snatches of words seep through the miasma. This is not a tune to go cruising in a roller too.

My Drive is remixed by Michael Valentine West as slow careful acoustic strings are plucked with tonal synth noises oscillating between frequencies slowly stirring the sounds around, this is evocative and sounds a bit like parts of the soundtrack to current Netflix series 1899.

Slow Motion Fade is remixed by The Moth Poet that has a wind tunnel sound effect overriding the voices getting lost in the wind, every now and then snatches of an aria emerge from the mix, as the tin hatted tremulous calm is hinted at.

Avalanche is remixed by Ememe into funky dancefloor head scratcher, full on glitchcore tumult of disparities that leaves the funk far behind, as the early computer games noises take over. Suddenly you're in the middle of a space war cacophonous assault on the senses.

Humanity is Coming is appropriately re-mixed by John 3:16 this feels less like a banner at a world cup football match, more like ambient chill out gone strange. The vocals emerge from the fog in time for the large timpani to take over as the lowing sounds signal something dreadful might be about to happen.

Uledaru is remixed by Schizo Fun Addict who takes a dense approach with the light strings at the top of a mix with layers and layers of wallowing synths and distended pulsars to the core of cyber space.

Nothing Like Anything is re-mixed by Senji Niban into a Chinese Opera goes ambient weird out with a very steady central core that seems quite passive. If this is like anything, it's the Strings Of Consciousness whose leader is name checked in the liner notes.

The Tide To Steal Away is remixed by Harold Nono that has the feel of the tide slowly going out at the end of a particularly nasty storm, calm has returned but for how long, with the tonal shifts against the shale. Howling winds shift the sands.

The second re-mix of Silver Shadow is by Ryota Mikami that rolls the tune with gunshot percussion and light keyboards.

My Drive remixed by The House Of Tapes has an industrial grebo in stasis, slow core distain, to drive you to the outer edges of fried guitars, splayed noises.

The Second re-mix of Humanity is Coming by Stricknice that seems to dial things down a bit, with a slightly sombre edge to it, as the timings shift, the vocals come to the fore front for the first time this album. Does this indicate a way to resurrect Humanity, I'm not sure.

The second re-mix of My Drive is by Hanali has tribal drumming, drill 'n bass noises, tonal aggravation with the odd, sweet sound with closet vocals.

The album concludes with the second re-mix of Avalanche this time by Bigflower full of ambient long tones, hissing noises like the snow coming down the mountain at you as you hope to find shelter from the storm that is listening to this album.
