Our Rating:
Electric Pets are a new group from Derby, a town I've only ever visited on my way to festivals at Donnington. They are a four piece who formed just before the world went to hell in a pandemic cart.

The band were formed when Emma Buckley persuaded Phil Wagg and Pete Darrington, two members of The Hudson Super Six to form a new band with her, they then added drummer Adam Grace just as they were getting things together the pandemic hit. Both the bands ep's were written and recorded over the last couple of years. The Elephant EP follows on from there debut Rhinoceros Ep.

Make You Mine comes bursting out of the speakers sounding like a less sleazy and put-upon Misty Miller, this is a bruised but not abused indie love song, with a bit of a Shangri La's undertow that comes to the fore in the musical breakdown, As Emma Buckley lets you know how much she's going to do to make you hers.

Can't Bring Me Down has a jangling opening that recalls The Bangles, as this song of overcoming the odds, getting on while doing what you want to, this song is a good kiss off for an ex, who rather than being Ghosted is being ritually humiliated as she moves on. You'll be singing along after two or three listens.

Show starts slowly and then quickly starts building into a wide screen song about when you should reveal your feelings if at all, as Emma sings seductively the tune keeps building and falling almost panting, this will easily get stuck in your head.

Seven Mississippis is almost as great a song as song title, sounding like Space fronted by Misty Miller or Cerys Matthews, this has a sense of wanting more, trying to figure out how to get it and carefully constructing a raging river of sound to achieve that aim, even as it all breaks down for the calm ending.
