LOVELIKEFIRE and Heist or Hit Records are thrilled to announce the U.S. release of "Tear Ourselves Away", the debut full-length from the San Franciscan four-piece. Release digitally on 1 March 2010, the album will be available in stores in physical form starting 12 April. "Tear Ourselves Away" is the culmination of years of hard work and a DIY mentality that has seen the band self-release two well received EPs, and self-book multiple national tours. This spring they gear up for the album's release with a short tour to SXSW 2010.
Produced by Bill Racine (MATES OF STATE, ROGUE WAVE) and recorded in JOHN VANDERSLICE's Tiny Telephone studios, "Tear Ourselves Away", is a soaring collection of songs that find LOVELIKEFIRE coming into their own as writers, blending shoegazey indie rock influences with alterna-pop undertones, and from time to time hints of ENNIO MORRICONE's spaghetti westerns.
Already out in the UK (via Heist or Hit), "Tear Ourselves Away" and the band's live performances there have been greeted with very warm reviews. Clash Magazine compared LOVELIKEFIRE to a healthy mix of "stadium theatrics" and the "raging menace of [Siousxie and] The Banshees." Art Rocker proclaimed the record "emotional and dramatic in as many ways as it is seductive and boisterous." At the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, Drowned In Sound described the way in which LOVELIKEFIRE "roared out of the gates with their delightful and defiantly soaring pop Songs." While Q Magazine wrote of lead singer Ann Yu as "Sounding at times vocally like a more laid back Karen O and with an early 90s shoegazey feel," and went on to say that "fans of My Bloody Valentine should find something to like."
