ANGEL MUSIC Group To Host
3 x Global Gathering FESTIVALS in 2006
and LAUNCH sister event ‘HiFi’ in Newcastle.
The organisers of Global Gathering, The Angel Music Group, have finalised plans to continue with their two-day festival concept in 2006 as well as a brand new dance and live music festival especially for the North to be called HiFi. This announcement follows the double sell out success of the two Global Gathering festivals that took place earlier this summer in the UK and Ireland. The UK event made history as the biggest ever UK dance festival and the first to go camping whilst the inaugural Irish event hit capacity and claimed many new admirers.
Global Gathering UK will return once again to Long Marston Airfield near Stratford Upon Avon for a two-day weekender over the 28th and 29th July 2006. It will follow a similar format to the successful template laid down this year: Friday will open from 5pm–2am with an increased capacity of 25,000 and full camping facilities; whilst the Saturday night event will open from 2pm-6am with the capacity risen to 45,000. Musically the event will feature the world’s best DJs as well as live bands that compliment and enhance the atmosphere. The combination of great music and camping over two nights was deemed a triumph by all involved including exclusive radio partners Radio 1.
Global Gathering Ireland has also earmarked a date for 2006: Saturday 5th of August. This year’s event ran smoothly and impressed the local authorities in Cork who have since permitted the AMG to extend the capacity to 25,000.
AMG’s new event named ‘HiFi’ will be a 25,000 capacity festival that takes place on Saturday May 27th at the Matfen Estate near Newcastle Upon Tyne. Doors will open from 2pm-4am and the event will attract young music lovers from all walks of life. The Angel Music Group has previous experience of hosting large-scale events in Newcastle; for the past three years they have organised sell out events at the Metro Radio Arena under the Godskitchen banner. Musically HiFi will feature six arenas of live bands coupled together with DJs from across the spectrum of electronic music. The line-ups have not been finalised but will be announced early in 2006.

Currently AMG are in negotiations with brands wanting to associate themselves with such large numbers of young people; no headline sponsor has yet been agreed.
And it doesn’t end in Europe, AMG have also joined forces with renowned production company Track Entertainment to host Global Gathering in Miami on the 18th March as part of the Winter Music Conference. The event will attract 30,000 people from all musical tastes. The legendary ‘Nine Inch Nails’ have already been confirmed as headliners of this event.
James Algate who runs and operates the festivals commented:
“During one giant weekend we turned Global Gathering into an historic two day camping festival which with the addition of live talent brought an unbelievable atmosphere to the proceedings. We then flew directly to Ireland the following day to do it all over again at our debut festival in Cork.
This year we’re making it slightly easier for ourselves by spreading the events over a longer period of time and with the inclusion of two brand new events and concepts I believe we have a very healthy festival calendar for 2006. We believe with our knowledge of dance music and this years giant following proves there is still a massive appetite for the genre. With the inclusion of Live Bands and acts on our shows we will once again prove ourselves to be forward thinking in the market place with creating exciting events that capture the imagination of our audiences."
