Mr Weathers was a particularly boisterous kitten who devoured not one nor two but three sets of headphones in his salad days. Hallogallo in the Park is a jogger's delight...I'm told. I really did write this in the car whilst my then partner was in the Indigo Sun parlour in Ayr.

'I lifted you from the tomb world just now and I will continue to lift you until you lose interest and want to quit. But you will have to stop searching for me because I will never stop searching for you.' (Wilbur Mercer, Do Androids Count Electric Sheep to Help them Fall Asleep).

- John McKeown

Shot in the Yellow Bedroom up in Yorkhill with Sandra, Shanley and Apsi needing minimal prompting to go maximum goth. A few glasses of 'mommy's red juice 🍷 ' and we were in Robert Palmer's Dream-House. Best decision was to hand the reins to first-time director, Radhika Dade, who shot all the footage and, with Rhea Marchetti, kept the whole shoot ridiculously upbeat. Spiralled into an exhausting and hilarious twelve-hour vortex editing at Sushil and Vinita Dade's house in Renfrew on a glitching laptop. Blinky eyes and hi-fives. Props to Laura Palazon for filming the park and Lidl scenes on a brutal post-GlasGoesPop hangover. Best bit is the guy on the Kelvin Way: hands up / rallying the troops. Lian Thomson was one of those troopers for pushing through the giggles on the night-time car shoot. Might string together a twenty minute blooper reel. Making videos was never this much fun.

The Yummy Fur - 'Everybody Talks About The Weather' CD/LP/DD is released on 25th September 2026 by Upset The Rhythm

The Yummy Fur’s first album of new material in over 25 years is seductive and ambiguous; a fast-paced flip through scenes from art, myth, life and fantasy; a witty whole made from glittering scraps. The band’s original incarnation – fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist John McKeown from 1992 to 1999 – morphed from making quick-hit cartoon-art songs to Eno and Cale-influenced creepers, populated by characters from McKeown’s life in Glasgow and the films, books and poetry that he lived a parallel life through. 'Everybody Talks About The Weather' delights in using every past iteration of the band as potent collage material: a melee of sounds and ideas existing at once, revealing themselves then dipping back into hiding. Recorded by the original core trio of McKeown, Brian MacDougall (guitar) and Paul Thomson (drums), Everybody Talks About The Weather comes 17 years after the band reformed for sporadic live shows, and seven years after the release of their sorta-greatest hits compilation Piggy Wings (Rock Action). Ten tracks long with nothing to spare, it is as condensed and vital as their best songs, with a new clarity of sound that allows their ambiguities to come into the light.

The band will be on tour in the UK in October
