Review: 'Too Many Ts'
'The TP EP'

-  Label: 'Drop Cat Records'
-  Genre: 'Hip-Hop' -  Release Date: '13/5/2013'

Our Rating:
Based in London and swiftly making a name for themselves, Too Many Ts are a hip-hop/rap duo whose new EP is well worth the wait. It's been a long time coming, after a full year of gigging in 2012. But the time has clearly been used well - honing a distinct sound and creating the solid approach to their music.

Namely, a palpable sense of humour. This debut is an excellent introduction to Too Many Ts, their lyrics are spat in tight rhymes packed with gags. Even better, they're laid not over generic electronics blips and loops, but swing samples, blues loops and funk riffs. It's a combination that blends better than it might sound - two disparate genres which fit surprisingly well. Like jam and cheese sandwiches (try it, seriously).

Standing at four tracks, this is as strong a debut EP as you're likely to hear if you're open to the new ideas contained in it. The music industry is so pigeonholed these days, it would be refreshing to think that something this unusual might just make the grade. Here's hoping.
