Review: 'OLD TIRE SWINGERS'
'Old Tire Swingers'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '17th December 2012'

Our Rating:
Hold on to your horses for this bunch of beefy yokels from Fresno, Califonia.

They're led by Paul Chapman, an imposing figure with an Amish beard. The banjo looks like a toy in his hands.

This and the fiddle are the main instruments for an album of upbeat old-timey bluegrass mountain music pumped out at a tempo that ranges from super-fast to supercharged.

The rest of the band are Nick Kennedy, acoustic guitar, Frick Dau, upright bass, and Eathan Hakker on mandolin.

They are ramshackle like dedicated buskers; low on subtlety but high on energy.

Only two of the thirteen tracks hit the three minute mark and all but two are their own tunes.

The two non originals are Police and the stomping Big-Eyed Rabbit. The latter, together with Something About Us, show off the band at their frenzied best.

The songs is sure to whip up a storm when played live in a sweaty club but , on record, my threshold is around four tunes in a row.
