Review: 'FAIRCHILD REPUBLIC'
'Arcadia EP'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '25th March 2013'

Our Rating:
At the time of making this EP, the six-piece band the Gold Coast were still known as Fairchild Republic.

The four tracks are taken from their Australian released album Wish Upon a Paper Crane.

Since then they have decided to streamline their name as a sign that are evolving.

They play guitar-orientated Indie rock and most articles you find about them come with a check list of other bands they sound like/draw influence from (The Killers, The Editors etc etc).

Wheel reinvention is not high on their agenda so what we hear is a highly predictable combination of what their press release describes as "soaring vocal melodies" and "twinkling guitar work".

As there's nothing original here, we have to wait to see if the 'New Everything' of Fairchild minus the Republic offers any alternative.

I'm not holding my breath!
