After finding a measure of fame with a memorable X Factor audition of her own song 'Last Night' (2012) LUCY SPRAGGAN has gone from an unknown to on the verge of breaking big in 2013.
Her new single 'Lighthouse' is out next month, and mixes an upbeat acoustic feel with an upbeat pop chorus that will doubtless become a singalong hit of the summer if it fulfils its potential.
With more than a little KT Tunstall about it, there are also folk tinges to the rhythm and the chugging drum part, a genuinely excellent showcase for the talents of an exciting, upcoming artist.
It's undoubtedly the song of a confident songer-songwriter on the up, and what few people know about Spraggan is that her initial break didn't come on the X Factor. Before that standing ovation in her TV audition, Lucy was also part of last year's independent Open Mic UK contest, and in a recent interview encouraged other budding vocalists to take part in this year's national contest.
