Erlen Meyer is the self-titled debut album from this French outfit. Rooted in tragedy (the band having endured the death of a band member shortly before recording this album) the passion, and the raw emotion drip from every phrase and note. While the lyrics are in the band's mother tongue, and I do not speak French so do not understand what they are saying, it does not matter in the slightest. The point is made via the relentless, sludgy metal and almost anguished vocals.
Reminiscent of early Will Haven releases, this album is quite excellent, but there is still potential for this band to reach even greater heights. This could be the first installment of something very special indeed. Buy it now.
