Inspiration’s a funny thing, and it’s often curious how the creative process takes over the limitations of certain projects. ‘Donato Dozzy Plays Bee Mask’ began as a straightforward commission for a remix, whereby Italian DJ Dozzy remixed Bee Mask’s ‘Vapoware’. But, so taken was he with the wealth of sound in the source material that he got a bit carried away in his explorations, and wound up with over an hour’s worth of material.
The seven tracks here – Vapoware 1 – 7 represent 40 minutes of this output, a subtle, layered construction that drifts effortlessly through widescreen sound washed and repetitive bleeping, blooping rhythmic loops, it’s bee mask, but not as we know it – and fans are sure to get a buzz out of these inspired reworkings.
