Review: 'VALFADER'
'Whispers Of Chaos'

-  Label: 'www.facebook.com/valfader'
-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '21st October 2013'

Our Rating:
One look at the cover of this 4 song EP and I thought they might be a bit doom metal, but while the press release prefers to call them riff beasts I think Doom is closer to the reality as they sound a lot like Opeth throughout; even down to the fact that 2 of the 4 songs stretch easily past the 10 minute mark and nothing is under 8 minutes long. This says they are not about conciseness, whatever else they stand for.

The opener, Whispers Of Chaos, builds on its riffs nicely and the vocals are thankfully easy to understand throughout. They have a good sense of foreboding and an apocalypse of noise on its way that they will unleash eventually. Green Sleeps brings in elements of Kyuss-style desert stoner rock into the mix as they get progressively heavier and doomier but the real heavy work outs are on D-M-T and Sacred Spiral: two tunes that take you on very heavy trips into a doom-laden future crushed beneath the monolithic guitars and rumbling bass.

If they are even halfway decent live then Valfader will easily build a decent following. this is a promising EP, all 40 plus minutes of it. I assume they will only put out double and triple albums. Well worth checking out when it's released next month.
