Review: 'STUBBORN HEART'
'Penetrate (single)'

-  Label: 'One Little Indian'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '30th September 2013'-  Catalogue No: '1213TP12'

Our Rating:
The Stubborn Heart groove follows a familiar pattern for this 12" single.

Penetrate, a track from their self-titled debut album, is presented in four versions of which Sheffield's Walter Ego remix is the most beat-orientated.

The emphasis is on a sultry late night vibe with a hint of dub and a significant dose of romantic trauma : "I think I love you but I don't want to hurt you".

The duo's heavily chilled atmosphere is so steeped in melancholy that you wonder what they would do if a relationship ever went completely smoothly.

The only other track is Nighthawks which is a slightly funkier affair rendered more dance-friendly by neat percussive effects and a driving rhythm.

Party music for jilted lovers.
