Leeds-based microlabel This Is It Forever seem pretty excited about this release, which marks something of a departure from their usual fare. With this three-tracker, they promise a release that ‘effortlessly weaves from elegiac melodies, to frenetic, bruising beats’.
It’s fair to say that ‘Time Waits’ does pack an energetic groove and cyclical doodly synth motifs that, through repetition, create the sonic equivalent of a kaleidoscope: hypnotic stuff. The Message to Bears Remix chills things out a bit and puts laid-back vocals to the fore, while retaining the trance-inducing essence of the original.

The EP’s other track, ‘HAARPS Aria’ is altogether different, a ponderous exploration of bleepy territories, with soft washes of sound subtly eddying around a busy beat.
Not my usual scene by any means, but it’s easy to see the appeal.
