Our Rating:
The trouble with biographies is that they tell you things. “I’ve done this, I’ve done that, we did this, we did that”. What follows on from that, of course, is expectation. In my opinion, given that Maria Taylor has worked with so many world famous musicians she should be sounding like a one woman supreme team but she doesn’t and so I try to read between the lines.

I am guessing but I think what we have here is a session musician type, a gun for hire as they say who also happens to make their own music. I suppose where that leads me is to the following statement. Not all great backing singers make good front people, or songwriters for that matter, but you knew that anyway right?

What we also have here is MOR. This sounds like music that has been made to get on the radio, which is of course a perfectly natural and wholesome thing to aim for. There are ten songs on this album and I like two of them. Tunnel Vision which needs a radio edit and erm...one of the other ones. It’s not that I hate this album per se, it’s just a little tame and insipid for my liking. I am sure if I were to find myself in a room with Maria Taylor she would show me up for the scum bag I truly am but be that as it may, this is not music for scum bags.
