Review: 'FUDGE & THE FREQUENCY'
'Planet Radio'

-  Album: 'Futuristic Funk EP' -  Label: 'Self-released'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '16th December 2013'

Our Rating:
It's clear from their new track Planet Radio that Fudge and the Frequency are extremely confident in their musical chops. Lead singer Fudge proudly exclaims "The future's in my sound."

The problem with making this kind of bold statement is that the music has to back up the claims. I'll admit that Planet Radio is a solid dance pop track. The main problem is that Fudge and co wear their influences such as Jamiroquai and Daft Punk a little too much on their sleeves for any claims of originality to be legitimate.

However, authenticity is much more important than the white whale of originality. Fudge has rejected record deals in order to maintain autonomy over his "Futuristic Funk" sound and this must be both acknowledged and appreciated. I would recommend listening to the track if you;re a fan of dance pop acts such as Daft Punk, just don't expect to be hearing the future.
