Review: 'Full of Hell / Calm The Fire'
'Split 7"'

-  Label: 'A389 Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Thrash Metal' -  Release Date: '29th November 2013'

Our Rating:
The fact this 7” contains six tracks gives a fair indication of the kind of short noisy blasts contained within the grooves. Full of hell, for the uninitiated, are appropriately named, and their four cuts are squalling thrashes of rage compressed into around a minute apiece (‘The Lonely Path of Cestoda condenses that ire into an even more explosive 30-second detonation). Yet for all the pace, the deluge of drums and frenetic fretwork, there are some sinewy riffs jammed in.

In comparison, Calm the Fire sound positively mellow. In any other context, of course, their thick sludgy D-beat driven hardcore is pulverisingly heavy. Sharp-edged and punky, the vocals cut through the mess of guitars – if the singer is paralysed, his larynx clearly isn’t. Abrasive, aggressive, and brimming with fire, their two tracks are complimentary counterparts to Full of Hell’s, making this a killer cut.
