Review: 'White Witches'
'Secret Club EP'

-  Label: 'Living in the Future'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '12th November 2013'

Our Rating:
White Witches are Rory Lewarne, formerly of Pink Grease, and Jeremy Allen, with Essex-born cabaret rhythm section Charlie Webb and Jack Carr joining them in the studio for this release. The sleazy punk energy of Pink Grease has certanly carried over into Lewarne’s latest project, with the lead track dragging elements of punk – with nods equally to The Clash and Adam and the Ants – dub and and rockabilly into a driving choppy chunk of indie rock that whips itself into a wild, theatrical frenzy.

It’s followed by a trio of tracks that are equally packed with energy, driven forward by insistent drums and nagging basslines. Whether or not White Witches have enough standout qualities to really go anywhere, or whether they’ll disappear faster than their predecessors remains to be seen, but while it’s not bad, I can see them struggling to really find their niche.
