Review: 'HARMED BROTHERS, THE'
'Better Days'

-  Label: 'Fluff & Gravy Records'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '15th October 2013'

Our Rating:
Ray Vietti and Alex Salcido, the core duo of this band, are not brothers and come from different parts of America but as musical siblings they share a taste for classic Alt.Country acts like Uncle Tupelo and Whiskeytown.

There's nothing too original about their ten lovelorn songs but the good-hearted Americana exudes a warm glow despite the fact that most are about coming to terms with failed relationships.

The tracks feature solid arrangements built around vocal harmonies with backing from banjo/guitar and occasional piano.

As the album title suggests, they write about moving on and letting go rather than looking back with bitterness or anger. In Better Days, the track, there is the reflection that sunny days follow the rain.

The overriding ambition is summed up on Love Song For The Assumed with the melancholy reflection all I want to do is fall in love again".

These tunes, recorded in St Louis, Missouri, are testimony to the fact that this is easier said than done.
