Review: 'Douglas, David'
'Higher'

-  Label: 'Atomnation'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '27th January 2014'

Our Rating:
I’ve been guilty of it myself, but have to accept that ‘haunting’ is a much overused word in music journalism. So when David Douglas hits us with ‘Higher’ - no fewer than four mixes, too – which showcases his ‘haunting’ vocals which grace ‘a lucid cut of analogue grooves, catchy chords, dub slaps and moog-tone bass-lines’ I can’t help but groan. Especially as it’s strongly reminiscent of ‘The Sun Rising’ by The Beloved. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great track. But that was back in, what, 1989? Time to move on...
