Review: 'JONES, SUSIE'
'Queen Of The Starlight EP'

-  Label: 'Rubi Records'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '25th November 2013'

Our Rating:
This talented young singer songwriter from Lancashire has obvious affinities to traditional British folk but there are also nods towards Americana, especially in the opening tune Queen of the Starlight.

For her four original songs on this EP the sound is clean, crisp and mainly acoustic with spare arrangements that tend to leave her occasionally shrill voice a little too exposed.

With a fuller backing from mandolin and electric guitar on Steel Dagger she sounds more assured which suggests that a more folk-rock orientated direction is likely to reap rewards in the future.

Could, and hopefully will, do better.
