Our Rating:
I’m so dazed I can barely see straight to type... my head’s a shed and my brain is slowly trickling out of my ear. It’s singing and dancing on its way out as it traces a thread of cells like pink and grey lava. What’s happened to me? Why do I feel this way, so disorientated and disturbed? I’ve just been listening to Dead Rider’s album, ‘Chills on Glass’. It’s brought on some kind of psychotic state.

It’s not my fault, I’m usually a hardy character, impervious to weirdness, but this.. this is like being battered around the head by a million ghosts, each one poking through the ears with long, spectral fingers and pushing a nightmare directly into the brain. What I’m trying to articulate is that this is completely bonkers, a 5,000 piece musical jigsaw that’s been picked up and dropped from a third-floor window and left, scattered in a random heap on the pavement.

People are kicking the pieces here and there, some are being carried away, stuck by pieces of gum and whatnot on the soles of shoes. Dogs are licking some of the pieces, birds are pecking them. Hipsters are snapping pics of the scene as it unfolds on their smart phones and digital SLRs while their vest-wearing mates with beards ride scooters through the spreading debris. A hobo, drunk on Special Brew stumbles over some of the pieces, cut his face and lies there, a bleeding, puking drunken mess. A car drives past, smooth electronica pulsating from its open windows. It’s all happening, and it’s all happening at once. You’ve no idea what demented means until you’ve heard this album.
