Review: 'Rats As Big As Dogs'
'Stupid Suits You (EP)'

-  Label: 'Sturm Und Drang'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave'

Our Rating:
Whether the description of the band as ‘a dirty mix of Fucked Up, Stereolab, Fugazi and The Dead Kennedys’ is even vaguely accurate is debatable (I’d like to know which journo cooked that one up in an attempt to sound clever), there’s no question that RABAD make one hell of a punky racket, in the real school of ‘77 sense.

A proper three –chord throbber with shouty vocals, the first of the four tracks on offer here., ‘Taurus and the Hare’ is a cracking blur of propulsive old-school punk. They don’t move far from this blueprint across the EP, either. Nothing wrong with that when they’ve got this much energy and bile. Balls-out guitars, brazen sloganeering and two fingers up, the four piece prove that playing music that’s simple, direct and sincere in its anger is still one of the most exhilarating listening experiences.

They might not be revolutionising music, but they’re still eager to use music to kick the revolution into action, with rabble-rousing socio-political lyrics delivered with real gusto. Fight the power and fuck the man.
