The second (digital-only) single lifted from God Is An Astronaut’s recent album, ‘Origins’, ‘The Last March’ – apparently inspired by post mortem photography and dedicated to all the dearly departed, finds the band in a reflective mood. A restrained drum and drifting synths interweave with e-bowed guitar to create an atmosphere reminiscent of ‘Disintegration’ era Cure before blossoming into a beautiful cinematic shoegaze tapestry, wordless vocals float into the mix as the song heads skyward. Luscious, dreamy and euphoric, it’s a little sliver of instrumental magic.
