Review: 'Sonic Kimono'
'Coffee and Cake'

-  Label: 'Wrapped Up Sounds'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '24th March 2014'

Our Rating:
I daresay if these guys collaborated with Sparks they could Sonic Kimono My House. Ok, I’ll get my coat. Meanwhile, the duo of Roy Large (guitars / vocals) and Oliver Sayers (guitars) are doing just fine on their own.

‘Coffee and Cake’ has an urgent synth line bubbling under the clanging, choppy post-punk guitars and Large sneers and glottal stops his way through it all with perfect poise. Hints of early Squeeze and XTC are pinned to a sound that’s got a spiky punk edge. Fresh and energetic, it’s a crisp cut that’s simultaneously retro and very now.
