Our Rating:
Although it's not out until May 26th, The Bermondsey Joyriders album launch party is at the 100 Club Tomorrow (9th May) and they will also be playing a show on the 11th May at the now under threat 12 Bar club with John Sinclair to help launch what may well be one of the best new rock records of 2014.

The Bermondsey Joyriders' third album 'Flamboyant Thugs' opens with a statement of intent in the full on assault of Sonic Underground; barreling across my speakers and straight into my heart with kicking guitars, rumbling bass and top notch drumming. This is power punk at its finest as we expect.

Black God Daddy sees Gary Lammin's vocals start off all sultry before resuming his normal glam rock growl and the guitars sound like a Norton motorbike revving up to go on a run. This is Biker punk but not quite as we know it.

Here Come The People is a rabble rouser of a special song for the people who don't belong. It has pin sharp breaks and stops before the guitars and bass crash back in just right to help stir up the people marching in the streets. Just make sure you join the Joyriders gang before the end of the song!!

The album's centre piece is the title track. Introduced by John Sinclair, it's a great barrel house punk pop monster of a street fighting song about, well, themselves. It's glorious and absurd and just a great song that should be on every stereo this summer. If this song doesn't get stuck in your head for weeks after hearing it you'd better just playing it a couple more times. John Sinclair comes back in for the outro to give us a bit of peace.

Just Like Me is a proper aggro-punk stomper for skinheads to go wrecking to, but in the end we all want to be just like Gary and the boys a bunch of flamboyant thugs cruising for a good time with some very Heartbreakers-style guitars to help us along as we pogo around the room smashing everything in sight before we realise it's our own home we are destroying.

Blimey It's Nice to Be Important is about living in Ongar!! No really, but also about consumerism and how we should all be nice rather than Important. Yes they stick it to the over-privileged in their own inimitable style.

Yes it's time to learn to be like a man and not Just A Kid and certainly not only one kind. The Joyriders make sure those guitars scream across the speakers like they are strafing us and the audience. Time to Roll The Dice and just watch it roll is a cool almost Slade-like stomp-along that as ever leaves me with a smile on my face.

Gentlemen Please is a barrelhouse punk tune asking for us all to have good manners and it's about time too so sign up now to the Bermondsey Joyriders code for good behaviour!! They close the album with The Message. This starts with a nice plucked guitar and a bass rumble and Gary telling us his message about the Wall Street Crash. He is, of course, railing against corporate greed and we are all with him and the Bermondsey Joyriders.

It's time to show you believe in the band's vision and go order a copy from The Bermondsey Joyriders online. You won't regret it.
