Ok, so I can’t help but hearing – in my head – ‘Stand by Me’ playing over the top of ‘Mississippi’ and it does kind of mar the enjoyment. You know how it is: once you’ve heard something, even if it’s only in your mental jukebox, you can’t unhear it. Still, there’s no denying that it’s a neat little bit of songwriting: bright, breezy and as catchy as you like. The title track and ‘The Courtship of Summer Preasley’ should be more than enough to convince anyone that the first song was no fluke: uptempo, harmonious guitar pop bounds vibrantly along to energetic drums. Uplifting.
