Our Rating:
Ben Jacov makes music that’s hard to pin down. Broadly, it’s electronica, and there are some beats present: ‘Notturno Lucis’ (which features AikoAiko) has a low-key vibe, with ethereal female vocals drifting over a distant, backed-off rhythm that pulses and ripples gently. But this is but an island in a shifting landscape. Soundwaves rise and fall, textures morph and entwine before fading and vanishing. Like a cloud, the shape of each track is constantly changing, each sound but transitory, its substance intangible.

‘Weeg’is altogether harder-edged, metallic-sounding modulations clang and echo across barren, rocky terrain, before it too evaporates, floating away and taking a different form as it does so. Engaging, evasive and intriguing.
