The album’s title may conjure something bleak, dark and heavy, but ‘Wrap Your Bones’ is anything but. Heartfelt and sincere in lyrical content and vocal delivery, the songs are soulful folk, stripped back – as one may expect from a trio which features Flying Picket Simon Foster – and with a strong emphasis on melody.
Teresa Gallagher may be better known for her work voicing Radio 4 plays and children’s TV shows such as The Octonauts, Noddy and the Mr Men, but she has a nice natural tone to her singing voice, which is well utilised here. With nods to The Carpenters there are some sweet harmonies to be found here, making ‘Wrap Your Bones’ very much a record for a reflective Sunday afternoon.
