I initially read the band name as the rail-spitters which actually sounds more interesting. The image of four young punks gobbing on passing trains is preferable to the clean-living, high-energy Bluegrass the male-female quartet serve up.
Wiki tells me that Railsplitters is actually the nickname for an army reserve formation of the US army from Kentucky whose motto is 'strike hard'. Strike Fast might be the motto to this band from Boulder, Colorado since they briskly run through twelve tunes in bouncy yet insubstantial fashion.
I'm sure they are a rousing and enjoyable live act but on record their tunes are too predictable to be anything more than lively distractions.
