Emily Capell is young, loud and snotty. She may be a young girl armed only with an acoustic guitar but she’s not one to rely on other people or the man. She’s pissed off and taking it to whoever will listen. She’s also asking the question people should be asking after the influential reggae singer died under dubious circumstances in 2011. Officially recorded as suicide, questions still surround the verdict. Capell rightly wants answers.
There’s a rawness and immediacy about these two tracks that’s hard to ignore: hers is the voice of rebellion, of disaffection, and she’s keeping it real.
