Review: 'July Days'
'The Night is For Hunting'

-  Album: 'The Night is For Hunting'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '3rd November 2014'

Our Rating:
‘Come and get it,’ singer Lawrence Henry taunts over bold guitars and a deliberate bass on ‘Get in the Ring’, which sees the Aussie foursome throw down the gauntlet and lay their cards on the table with a big flourish an a cocky gum-chewing nod. They’re all about the brash rock ‘n’ roll swagger, the full, guitar-driven sound and the big tunes.

Changes of pace, like the acoustic-based ‘Should’ve Told Me’ and ‘Sleep’ work well to provide variety and reveal softer, more inward-looking sides to the band.

Single cut ‘Photos’ leans somewhat on XTC’s ‘Making Plans for Nigel’ and - is positively bristling with hooks. While at times ‘The Night is For Hunting’ falls toward fairly standard indie rock and while at others (more heinously) it sounds like Oasis, ‘Electric Love’ and ‘Ain’t Got Much’ in particular. They do at least have enough balls and bluster to carry it off.
