On the one hand, the three tracks presented here are springy guitar-driven rock as favoured by Kerrang! On the other, there are numerous levels that show a band of greater depth and diversity: yes, there’s a clear pop nouse and a penchant for a hook amongst the shouty vocals and the gentle, emotive passages. But there are elements of punk in the vein of Trail of Dead that make this altogether more exciting than the template alt-rock you heard day in, day out. The chiming guitar and hectic drums on the intro on ‘Decade of War’ allude to more post-rock leanings and a sense of drama and it all adds up to a release that’s a cut above the average.
