There’s nothing base about the thrill this offering from Eyes of Others provides. The subtle, supple, understated ambient-gaze of lad track ‘Back to the Blue’ is haunting and evocative, with pulsing beats low in the mix pinning its sparse sound together with an extremely delicate touch. Single cut ‘Binary World’ incorporates elements of 80s electro and Krautrock to good effect, hinting at a mellowed-out New Order, while the clanging industrial percussive clang of ‘Bully’ calls to mind Depeche Mode’s ‘Blasphemous Rumours’.
Thoughtful, tuneful and really rather nice, ‘Base Thrill’ is balanced, composed, and deeply intriguing.
