Review: 'RESTRICTION'
'Action EP'

-  Label: 'Bristol Archive Records'
-  Genre: 'Reggae' -  Release Date: '18th April 2015'-  Catalogue No: 'ARC271V'

Our Rating:
Formed out the core members of Zion Band, Restriction were active between 1982-86 but financial problems (restrictions!) meant that this four-track EP was the only record they ever made.

The EP's reissue for Record Store Day is by way for an appetiser for a long overdue album of previously unreleased recordings. Alongside the digital download there is a vinyl only 12” limited edition of 500 copies housed in a facsimile of the original sleeve.

Side A features male and female lead vocalists from, respectively, “The General” on Four Point Plan and Jendayi on Action.

Side B is all instrumental - the horns driven Restriction followed by a full percussion led dub Re-Action.

This is solid old school reggae with the message of the title track - “have faith in yourself” - summing up the positive vibrations.
