Hints of The Jam and early Wire seep through the punky guitar blast of ‘Identity Crisis’ which opens the album in strong style. The energy sadly isn’t sustained, with some lacklustre brass-tinged Britpop tunes letting things down rather.
Still, the Squeeze-like ‘Elastic’ is bouncy and buoyant and nags away nicely with an organ line worthy of The Stranglers and the punky blue-collar pub-rock of ‘It Doesn’t Work Anymore’ packs a moderate punch.
