Review: 'BONG'
'We are, we were and we will have been'

-  Album: 'We are, we were and we will have been' -  Label: 'Ritual Productions'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '25th May 2015'

Our Rating:
That this album contains only two tracks is significant in itself: it certainly gives an indication of the expansive nature of the pieces, and even if you’re not familiar with Bong, the name offers adequate clues. Renowned in their field as titans of drone, ‘We are, we were...’ sees Bong pick up where ‘Earth 2’ trailed off in a groaning hum and zero in on a brief moment which they then magnify and draw out... and out... and out.

Drums lurk, almost entirely submerged in the endless fog. Seven minutes into ‘Time Regained’, commanding vocals incant a dark, mystical ceremony from amidst the sonic smog. There is no alternative but to join the ceremony. ‘Find Your Own Gods’ slowly rises from a hum to a thrum, its 18-minute running time washing out across sonic oceans. There’s no climax or crescendo, just a sense of eternal vastness to lose yourself in.
