Labouring under the burden of being oxymoronically labelled as a "futuristically retro" band from New York City, frontman and sole songwriter Jesse Lent says “On the first album, I was really working with a 1960s sound in mind....but we were also searching for something new and not tied to any one era.”.
After a gap of seven years since this debut release ((“Money Makes You Boring”) this quest continues with no real signs that this 'something new' has been located.
Musically speaking they still seem to be stuck in a garage during the sixties.

The rough-edged psychedelic pop songs include the auto-suggestive Be Who You Are and the head in the clouds dreaminess of Someday In The Sky.
We should probably be thankful it's a different direction to the 10-piece instrumental CSC Funk Band Lent also plays bass with, but it doesn't help make The Monte Vista sound any more compelling or less mediocre.
