'Fuses EP'

Our Rating:
There’s something delicately whimsical about the lushly-orchestrated tracks on this EP; neoclassical meets with trip-hop on the title track, while a descending bassline rolls effortlessly through the middle. Containing four remixes and two brand new songs, Chapilier Fou’s fifth EP demonstrates the full breadth of his work, and does so in style.

Daedalus’ ‘War of Numbers’ remix of ‘La Guerre des Nombres’ is hectic, a frantic broiling frenzy of bleeps, which contrasts with the laid-back groove of ‘Triads for Two’ in its to rococo rot remix form. Elsewhere, mellow bubbling analogue sounds meld with layers of sound that are ambitious in conception and beautifully measured in execution.

It’s an interesting blend of beats, grooves, electronica and strings delivered with a certain je ne sais quoi.
