The album was inspired by the concept of a fallen place’s black box being rediscovered, bringing back to life a moment in history as the sounds it contains are revealed. Disconnected flashbacks and a disruption in the time / pace continuum, alienation and man’s relationship with his environment. Sort of.
As you might expect from a collaboration featuring Christian Fennesz, carefully considered and delicately constructed soundscapes define ‘AirEffect’. Sparse and atmospheric, soft percussion evokes rainfall. Minimalist jazz infuses with jittery beats as the three tracks that comprise the first movement flow together and build in tension, density and volume. The incidentals – environmental sounds, snippets of bits and pieces, all add to the fleeting, ephemeral sensations the album engenders.
