From the gentle musings of ‘Wired like You’ to the rambunctious blues of ‘Whale Song’, what’s clear from this EP is that Ady Johnson is a decent guitarist. It’s also clear that he’s got range, and while he demonstrates emotional depth and a capacity for contemplation, there are also hints that he doesn’t take himself too seriously all the time. The serious looking man with a lived-on face who looks out of the EP’s cover from a plush-looking reading room is also the man who would choose to sit crossed-legged on the floor instead of on the luxurious-looking leather-upholstered chairs. It says considered non-conformity. And I kinda like that.
