I have a suspicion that Ludovico Einaudi has a hidden laboratory in the Italian hills where he is cloning pianists so that the cinematic ambient music he specialises in will slowly but surely take over the planet.
Born (or cloned?) in 1979 in Verona, Lorenzo Masotto is just the latest in a long line of artists that are distinctly Einaudi-esque although,to be fair, his leaning also edges more towards jazz/classical than ambient.
The two tracks with trombonist Mauro Ottolini (Improviso and Aurora Boreale) are not necessarily the best but are the least predictable.
Most of the ten tunes are pleasantly forgettable piano melodies although the orchestrated L'Impressionista featuring Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet, has a more detailed and diverse arrangement.
