The cover art, a title like ‘Love.Hate.Control’, not to mention the lead track’s title, don’t suggest choppy indie tunes, but that’s exactly what Delicate Holly offer up on this, their debut EP. Combining the roustabout punk-edged folk of The Levellers with the janglesome melodies of, say, Space, they’re a long way from the hardcore / metal you might expect, and similarly leagues away from their own reference points, which include Nirvana, The Clash and Royal Blood (although here are hints of early Nirvana about ‘Rain-o-Rack’). Still, they’ve evidently got passion and energy behind their tunes, and, remarkably, the four-track EP features a whopping six bonus tracks.
Whether you actually consider the entire EP live plus a radio edit as a bonus is perhaps a matter of opinion, but hey, it ain’t bad.
