The Legends Of Country were formed by Jof Owens, formerly of UK Indie-pop duo The Boy Least Likely To.
Owens is a country bumpkin at heart who shares his modest passions with longtime friends Adam Chetwood and Rob Jones.
These guys are Legends only in an ironic sense. Their objective was to in part to make a record that sounded like a cross between Johnny Cash and Bananarama.
The band take an unashamedly English perspective, dreaming of Nashville but resigned to the fact that a weekend in Whitstable will have to do as an alternative.
There are songs about coming to terms with ageing (Old Guns,Forty In the Spring), the regrets of an absent father (Saturday Dads) and the failing fortunes of darts player Ritchie Burnett (It's A Long Way Back From A Dream).

As the title track and the song Turn To Dolly relate, it is left to country music to make the world seem a nicer place.
The parochial values and self deprecating lyrics lend these songs a certain charm but the novelty wears off quite quickly.
