Review: 'Helen Perris'
'Mirrors & Windows'

-  Label: 'Independent'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'Out Now'

Our Rating:
Throughout her musical life, it seems songwriter Helen Perris' natural affinity with music has seen her pick up a multitude of instruments. On new single 'Mirrors & Windows', her prevalent instrument of choice is the piano - a classic, no frills choice which has remained timeless for a reason.

There's just something so simple and melodic about that pure piano sound, utilised over the decades by the likes of Billy Joel and Ben Folds to tell both deep emotional stories and take tongue in cheek looks at the world around us.

This is a pattern followed by Helen Perris with the new single, which sees her tackling the subject of anxiety and depression through the prism of our foibles as human beings. It's a difficult road to travel, and a hard balance to strike, but Perris does so ably thanks to her upbeat, catchy piano pop sound.
