Ah, the endless and ongoing psychedelic revival! Where everyone evokes the spirit of eternal summers staring up at infinite skies radiating Kodachrome hues while tripping their tits off, but in actual fact, they’re just using Instagram filters and raiding their parents’ record collections and high street stores which have latched on to ‘vintage’ chic and can (re)produce the style even more cheaply than charity shops can flog 70s threads.
Whyte Horses – no, they’re not some kind of Whitehouse tribute act – lean the full weight of their flares and flappy collars into the happy-clappy end of the psychedelic pop spectrum, and do with an overtly European sensibility, despite hailing from Manchester, of all places. It sounds ‘La Couleur Originelle’ sounds like one of those ultra-kitschy car ads, and benefits from being sung in French because it’s probably better not to hear the lyrics.

As a breezy ersatz retro bit of fluff, it ain’t bad.
